I don’t know what “Joe” is talking about. You will not get a big fine or get arrested if you do not have a license (unless he knows something I don’t). I am a business owner myself, In fact my husband and I own three different businesses. He has a home remodeling and repair company as well as a money consulting business. And I manage our wedding decorations website at http://www.weddingenrichments.com.
My husband needed to have a contractor’s license to be able to do larger remodels but you are not required to have a business license for just starting a service oriented business. It probably depends on your state. You may need to check with another similar business in your state. Just call them up, ask for the owner, and then ask a bunch of questions until they get suspicious about why you are asking them.
My suggestion:
1. Go to your state’s website (example: www.kansas.gov), register your business name so that noone else can take it and so the government will know when you started your business.
2. Ask as many questions as you can get away with by calling a similar business in your state.
3. Develop you business plan and target market.
4. Find a good accountant and keep track of all your expenses.
5. Provide good quality service and rely on word-of-mouth referrals
… and you’ll be on your way to success!

We plan to start building a house in the next few months and need ideas. I like the meditrainian look with earth tones, wood floors. I can’ seem to find good sites on the latest look that includes lots of pictures so you know what the room looks like. Does sombody out there know any sites or even good magazines for ideas as well as box stores that have good deals on fixtures flooring and so on? This is my first time building a home.

i know you need creativity and a sense of style but do you need art?
and what is the difference between interior design and interior decorating?
one more question would an online interior course be good or is it better to go to an art school?

I am trying to decide between and associate of arts degree at a local community college or a bachelor’s from the state college, but my husband would prefer not to move 6 hours away to the state college.
